Utah’s Prevention system
In Utah, dozens of county-level and small area coalitions are conducting prevention work. These coalitions focus on reducing risk factors and promoting protective factors relating to substance abuse, suicide, delinquency, crime and other target outcomes based on the individual community’s needs. The Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health provides resources and technical assistance to these coalition to support them in implementing evidence based prevention by applying models such as the Strategic Prevention Framework and Communities that Care.

Utah has the ability to decrease the burden of behavioral health problems on communities by 20% in 10 years, if agencies collaborate and work together to unleash the power of prevention. You can be part of the solution in your community!
